I've been waiting month's for ITV's Mr. Selfridge new series, after receiving commissions on feather fans for the show. Pic. teal medium feather fan with beaded tassel, and large white feather fans.

Paired with the rest of the costumes on the show I am so pleased to have my creations on a show with such an authentic wardrobe for the characters.

The Dolly Sisters were quite a notorious pair, and had their way spending Harry Selfridges money. Follow the story below.

Who were the Dolly Sisters?

Born in Hungary, the Dolly Twins forged their performing careers in films and theatres. After World War 1, they moved to France and started touring as a dance act around Europe.
They were paid well and had even dated royalty: Carol II of Romania, Christian X of Denmark and Alfonso XIII of Spain were among their reported courtiers.
By the time the sisters met Harry Selfridge in the 1920s, they had built up a reputation for extravagant tastes – they were dubbed ‘The Million Dollar Dollies’.

The Dolly Sisters’ relationship with Harry Selfridge is commonly, but perhaps unfairly, blamed for his downfall and subsequent bankruptcy. He lavished money on both sisters, and spent millions trying to win Jenny’s heart.
Selfridge was devoted to Jenny and was obsessed with trying to fulfil her every whim. He would sit behind her at casinos, feeding her bank notes, and consoling her and her sister with more jewelry if they lost.
During the course of his relationship with the sisters, Selfridge reportedly spent a total $4million satisfying their gambling habits – up to $250million in today’s money.
