Talulah Blue Halloween Burlesque by Neil Kendall
So, I have been busy trying to get ready for Halloween ~ it's a time of year I have neglected in the past.

Being mainly one weekend it never made sense to spend so much time on an act ~ until I started working on TOXIC, the costume has taken longer than I could ever have imagined.

With a combination of Neil Kendalls creativity in the shoot set up, it's worked out to be a really striking image.

My signature act 'Down in Mexio' can of course work with a day of the dead theme & even add fire into it.

I still have my little hula hooping leopard, the idea coming from a stunning vintage image I really wanted to re-create.

After years of performing I couldn't bring myself to go with something stereotypical for a new Halloween act, so I dove off in the opposite direct and went with pastels!

The past few years I have experimented more with makeup, and I think found some looks that suit me.

With the combination of concepts, burlesque and circus skills there is plenty of content for some entertaining acts.

Taking to the streets of Hong Kong

After doing a run of burlesque shows in the Sky bar at the top of the Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong, myself and Richard from Destination China met up with the lovely Bex and Nic Gaunt to do a shoot in the streets of Hong Kong, using a graffiti covered ally near the studio, some death defying steps, and then heading down to the market.

Here are the results!

Talulah Blue Burlesque for What Katie Did vintage style lingerie
I recently did a Halloween shoot with What Katie Did.

It was nice to go back to the old school pin up style, having moved away from it in the last couple of years.

I have wanted to model for them for a while, so I was really exited at this opportunity.

Pearls and Swine also did some really cute hats to fit the theme.

The extreme shape of these corsets is great - the new patterns they are working from o create these curves are well done.

After meeting Nick years ago we had mentioned doing a shoot many times ....... and it happened... here are the results.

Nick is working on a digital project, in which these photos will look nothing like they do here!

In the meantime I have some gorgeous costume shots of my updated Serpentine Seductress burlesque and fire act.

We also had a little fun on the roof top just because we could!

So the last 6months have been spent updating my acts, adding a hell of a lot of gems to things and finally shooting a few costumes with Grace Elkin.

These yummy pastel shots were done by Grace, she has done many amazing burlesque shots over the past few years, many of them for myself!

Photography into art

Back in April 2011 myself and Grace Elkin went out into the wilds of Leicestershire to do a spare of the moment photo shoot. The latex dress by Kitty Creme was an experiment, and far from looking fetishy like I expected, the 1940's hair and make up and the rough surroundings made for a pretty contrast of layers and textures.

The above fast became our favourite shot in editing, and has since become the image that most strongly signifies my work with Grace. We have done many beautiful images together, but something draws me back to this image year after year.

Artist, Brian Tull from Nashville TN, spotted it on facebook and got in touch about using it to paint from.
His style is amazingly life like. Painting sections of images on huge canvas's.
It was great to be sent updates on how it was going, and to see the methodical process he uses to create such photo realistic artwork.

Naming the piece 'We Walk By Faith, Not By Sight' Not surprisingly it sold pretty quickly.

Brian is now working on his second image of me using a photo by Paul Needham.
Again chopping me off just above the lip, he seems to have a thing for my lips and shoulders!

It's very exiting to have such a talented artist want to paint photos of me. And a big credit to Grace and Paul for the lovely composition, depth and great lighting that make these images worthy of being worked onto canvas.

The image by Paul Needham was a Betty Page inspired shoot done with Aurora Toxique.
It's quite funny that people who see Brains painting will not know that my desk is actually a person!
