ABSINTHE Fairy

Sapphire Rox commissioned an Absinthe Fairy costume. Being a burlesque performer it was important to do something really unique to her.

We worked loosely from illustrations to get ideas, and tied in burlesque style costuming, to create something that comes away easily bit by bit, each layer just as pretty as the last.

I generally want the costumes I make, to perform in, to do a lot of the work for me - making a stage show big, fun and full of variety.
.
This costume has lots of elements to it for Sapphire to play with on stage.
One request was a dramatic train to the gown, nothing says opulance like 3 metres of fabric following on the floor behind you!

Bump skirts are always fun on stage, and the curling organza gives a light, delicate feel - from that stemmed the wings, which of course turn it into a fairy costume!

Sapphire also wanted horns and a tail, luckily the structure worked really well, and they are fairly light.
Anyone who has worn a headdress for more than 20 mins will appreciate how important that is!
The tail is a good weight, and has some swing to it!
